Oddly enough, I got a better understanding of “naming myself” this year from an episode of “Lovecraft Country”. (Episode 7: “I Am”, in case you were wondering)
This year, I name myself according to what I cannot be me without.
I name myself Woman.
I name myself Nurturer.
I name myself Fighter.
I name myself Artist.

I’m glad Kwanzaa has been going well so far. I need to step my Swahili game up, too. To be fair, I know more Lingala than Swahili. Have a blessed Kwanzaa!

You’re welcome. That’s really cool how you cans speak and sing in that language. After finding out that one of my biggest DNA samples was Congolese via my mom’s side, learning those languages would be great especially since the DRC has Lingala and Swahili as 2 of their 5 official languages.
