Happy New Year! Happy 2019! Happy Last Day of Kwanzaa!
After six days of reflection, the final principle:

After all that I’ve slogged through this week, all that I’ve rediscovered about myself, all the feelings that were shared (and those too intense to share), I can express my reborn faith in people:
- I believe that our people possess the capacity to excel and succeed individually and collectively.
- I believe that our parents have an obligation to prepare children for independence, adulthood, problem-solving, and pursuing their own dreams.
- I believe that our struggle to restore our dignity as African descendants is a just and righteous cause.
- I believe that, despite our challenges, we are capable of winning against our oppressors..in the name of Jesus.
Well, I did it. I got through my first Kwanzaa. I laid the groundwork for an authentic observance of Kwanzaa next year. I already have my kinara and my mkeka. My unity cup should be here tomorrow.
Blessings, peace, and much love in this new year!
